{"id":1841,"date":"2024-06-06T09:21:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T07:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/l33.hu\/?post_type=kollega&#038;p=1841"},"modified":"2026-03-24T09:02:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T08:02:58","slug":"dr-farkas-eszter","status":"publish","type":"kollega","link":"https:\/\/l33.hu\/en\/dr-farkas-eszter\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Eszter Farkas"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dr. Eszter Farkas <\/strong>vagyok, sz\u00fcl\u00e9sz-n\u0151gy\u00f3gy\u00e1sz \u00e9s gyermekn\u0151gy\u00f3gy\u00e1sz szakorvos, IBCLC szoptat\u00e1si tan\u00e1csad\u00f3.<\/h4><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a high school student, I was a regular reader of Kismama magazine, which had&nbsp;<strong>a very breastfeeding-friendly and uninterrupted childbirth-oriented perspective<\/strong>&nbsp;at the time. This perspective deeply influenced me. As a medical student, starting from my third year, I traveled to a small town, Beretty\u00f3\u00fajfalu, for weekend internships. I learned many fundamental aspects of the profession there, but I especially enjoyed being with laboring expectant mothers.&nbsp;<em>There is a very special atmosphere around a laboring woman, somewhat like the feeling of being next to a newborn, as if time stands still. I loved that sense of timelessness that exists with a laboring mother. And I really cherished being able to help them. It doesn\u2019t take much\u2014just someone who is there and whose hand you can hold.<\/em>&nbsp;I spent my residency years in Debrecen, and after completing my obstetrics and gynecology board exam in 2017, I moved to Budapest two years later, in 2019. Since then, I have been working at R\u00f3bert K\u00e1roly Private Hospital, where I also assist with childbirths.&nbsp;<\/p><h4 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-9f17b0dd gb-headline-text\"><strong>My passions are educating adolescents, natural family planning, and supporting uninterrupted childbirth.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Occasionally, I give drama pedagogy presentations for young girls (MFM project, Cycle Show) that help them understand what is happening in their bodies and support them in becoming more confident in their femininity.&nbsp;<em>(The doctor's translated book: Menstrupedia, a pioneering comic book for girls aged 9-12, where they can learn about puberty changes and menstruation through charming illustrations and delightful comic book characters. -&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/menstrupedia.hu\/)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/menstrupedia.hu\/)<\/a>)<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My core principles, which currently guide my work,&nbsp;<\/strong>especially in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/l33.hu\/en\/varandosgondozas\/\">Maternity care<\/a>&nbsp;are:<\/h4><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>evidence-based medicine:<\/strong>I believe that the experiences of hundreds of people are stronger than an individual's experience, and evidence is stronger than tradition.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>honesty:<\/strong>acknowledge that I do not know everything and refer the patient to the appropriate specialist; explain everything I know in a way that the patient can understand.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>fairness:&nbsp;<\/strong>to run a practice where I would also be happy to go as a patient.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>my Christian faith:<\/strong>I believe that a child is a gift from God, and I approach every pregnancy with this belief, whether we are expecting a healthy or a sick baby. Based on my religious convictions, I do not perform abortions under any circumstances.<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uninterrupted childbirth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This concept is very trendy right now and is frequently discussed, but I think everyone interprets it a bit differently. In the birth plans of the expectant mothers who come to me, I see that <strong>there is a strong preference for minimal intervention or, if necessary, only those interventions that are absolutely required.&nbsp;<\/strong>This raises the question of what constitutes an intervention. Some may even consider it an intervention if someone comments to the mother or merely looks at her. <em>For me, the term \"uninterrupted\" may not fully capture what I believe makes for good childbirth support. I consider it fundamental that we intervene in the process only when absolutely necessary, and even then, with proper communication and respectful touch. Equally important is that <strong>childbirth support should be personalized to the individual. <\/strong><\/em><strong>A doctor can do the most by paying attention to the mother, listening to her, and accepting her feelings.
