Dr. István Kapás - obstetrician-gynecologist specialist. 

I earned my medical degree in Szeged in 2010 and completed my specialization in 2016. A year later, I also obtained a license in obstetric and gynecological ultrasound. Currently, I work both at L33 Medical and as part of the Versys Clinics team.

"What will you be when you grow up?"

I never had to think about how to answer this question, thanks to my parents being doctors. During my childhood, not a day went by without hearing an interesting story about a patient, a case, a diagnosis, or the latest medications. This fascinated me so much that it was clear to me: I wanted to become a doctor! My parents' dedication and conscientious work always reinforced my desire to pursue this path. I have never regretted this decision: I love my profession and feel fortunate to be able to work in it. Obstetrics and gynecology is a field with plenty of success stories that can recharge you even on the tougher days.

Trust above all else

I am aware that visiting a gynecologist is not one of women’s favorite activities. I strive to create an atmosphere in my office where my patients feel as comfortable as possible. I place great emphasis on ensuring that the doctor-patient communication functions properly, as this builds the trust and cooperation necessary for reaching a solution to the problem more quickly.

  • general gynecological screening examination
  • vaginal/abdominal ultrasound examination
  • contraceptive counseling, intrauterine device (IUD) insertion
  • screening for sexually transmitted diseases
  • investigation of bleeding disorders, hormonal examination
  • menopause counseling
  • maternity care

In addition to the above, my specialized services include:

  • infertility examination (including laparoscopic patency testing and hysteroscopy)
  • HyCoSy examination (hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography for fallopian tube patency)
  • laparoscopic surgery for fibroids and endometriosis (performed at a referral institution)

From conception to childbirth

I am fortunate to work at a background institution (Szent János Hospital) that has a neonatal intensive care unit. This means that in the event of a preterm birth, I do not need to transfer the pregnant women under my care to another facility. I consider this very important, especially as the age at which women choose to have children has increased, which can contribute to a higher number of high-risk pregnancies. This means there may be more cases of preterm birth compared to the past. I have the opportunity to monitor the pregnancy from conception all the way through to delivery, regardless of the gestational age.

Never the same

I feel fortunate because, thanks to my work, I witness true miracles in everyday life. For example, when patients come to me with a positive pregnancy test after months or years of trying and undergoing numerous infertility evaluations, and they hear the heartbeat for the first time. Or when a young couple becomes a family right before my eyes. These moments provide us, as doctors, with immense joy and motivation.
