I am Dr. Fanni Semjéni-Tornyi, surgeon and laser surgeon.

All my life, I have valued clear, straightforward, and honest solutions; I have no patience for beating around the bush or making excuses. As one of my greatest mentors used to say: 'The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.' This is exactly why I became a surgeon. It allows me to do what I love with all my heart: heal people in the most precise and exact way possible.

After graduating from medical school, I joined the Department of General Surgery at the St. Imre University Teaching Hospital in South Buda. Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of deepening my expertise through numerous procedures, with a particular focus on laparoscopic surgery. As the department's primary profile is the surgical treatment of colorectal cancer patients, I have gained extensive experience in this specialized field alongside general surgery.

I am guided by a deep sense of empathy. Since childhood, I have always loved helping others, and nothing brings me greater joy than seeing a satisfied patient who has fully recovered.

Years ago, I operated on a middle-aged woman with colorectal cancer. From the very beginning, I could tell she was hesitant to trust me—it was as if she couldn't quite believe that I could successfully perform her surgery and heal her, even though she had come to me through a personal recommendation. I simply asked her to trust me and assured her that I would never take on a procedure unless I felt fully qualified and capable. The surgery was a success; performed laparoscopically, it left virtually no scars, the tumor was completely removed, and she went on to receive her necessary oncological treatments. Today, she is in radiant health, cancer-free, living life to the fullest, and incredibly happy that I was able to help. Every year, she sends me an email to share her updates, expressing her endless gratitude and how glad she is that I was the one who operated on her. She has no idea how much this feedback means to me year after year. It is stories like hers that make this profession truly worth it.
